EPA Grants and Fellowship Information

Grants.gov allows organizations to electronically find and apply for competitive grant opportunities from all Federal grant-making agencies. Grants.gov is The single access point for over 900 grant programs offered by the 26 Federal grant-making agencies. The US Department of Health and Human Services is proud to be the managing partner for Grants.gov, an initiative that will have an unparalleled impact on the grant community. EPA posts synopses of competitive grant opportunities on Grants.gov.
National Center for Appropriate Technology
National Center for Appropriate Technology's Smart Communities Network Web site lists funding opportunities and regularly-updated funding announcements. Specific funding categories include Energy, Green Buildings, Brownfields and more. Green building practices offer an opportunity to create environmentally-sound and resource-efficient buildings by using an integrated approach to design.
Green buildings promote resource conservation, including energy efficiency, renewable energy, and water conservation features; consider environmental impacts and waste minimization; create a healthy and comfortable environment; reduce operation and maintenance costs; and address issues such as historical preservation, access to public transportation and other community infrastructure systems. The entire life-cycle of the building and its components is considered, as well as the economic and environmental impact and performance.
Tax Incentives Assistance Project (TIAP)
The Tax Incentives Assistance Project (TIAP), sponsored by a coalition of public interest nonprofit groups, government agencies, and other organizations in the energy efficiency field, is designed to give consumers and businesses information they need to make use of the federal income tax incentives for energy efficient products and technologies passed by Congress as part of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and subsequently amended several times.
Businesses can get deductions for new or renovated buildings that save 50% or more of projected annual energy costs for heating, cooling, and lighting compared to model national standards, and partial deductions for efficiency improvements to individual lighting, HVAC and water heating, or envelope systems.
Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE)
The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) works with business, industry, universities, and others to increase the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. One way EERE encourages the growth of these technologies is by offering financial assistance opportunities for their development and demonstration. In fiscal year 2007 alone, EERE awarded $574 million in financial assistance.
Enterprise Green Communities
Green Communities provides grants, financing, tax-credit equity, and technical assistance to developers who meet the criteria for affordable housing that promotes health, conserves energy and natural resources, and provides easy access to jobs, schools and services.
Funders’ Network for Smart Growth and Livable Communities
The Funders’ Network for Smart Growth and Livable Communities is a non-partisan, not-for-profit organization that exists to inspire, strengthen and expand philanthropic leadership and funders’ abilities to support organizations working to improve communities through better development decisions and growth policies.
Bridgemer: Funding and Investing in Green Buildings
Bridgemer and its affiliate, Shindico Realty Inc. of Canada, represent and co-invest with institutions and private investors. The organization has sources of capital available to provide debt and equity finance for green buildings, whether a new construction or a renovation.
National Association of State Energy Officials
The National Association of State Energy Officials (NASEO) will provide links to current funding opportunities for energy efficiency, renewable energy, sustainable development and related environmental projects.
